New antibacterial finish for our edgebands

The Biobacter® finish on the edges – based on the diffusion of silver ions – is effective against multiple strains of infections and bacteria, including the most contagious ones such as Staphylococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli. It can be applied on PVC, ABS and wood veneer edgebanding.

The antibacterial activity of the finish constantly diffuses silver ions on the surface. The silver ions prevent cell division, destroying the membrane, wall and plasma of the cell. It means a reduction of bacteria of up to 99% in less than 24 hours.

We can apply the antibacterial finish to any of our products, regardless of the material, design or finish. It is important not to sand the surface; if this happens the antibacterial layer will need to be replaced.

In this way, nutrients transport between cells is suppressed, causing a bacterial reduction of up to 99% in less than 24 hours.

 

For how long lasts its effectiveness?

The activity of silver ions on the surface does not diminish or disappear with time. The effectiveness of the product is guaranteed as long as the top coat is not removed, for example by sanding. In this case, a new layer must be reapplied to restore the antibacterial activity.
