Our lacquering edge bands offer excellent adhesion with the most common lacquers on the market. Their closed, uniform, and low-porosity surface allows for a smooth and flawless final finish, with lower lacquer consumption.

How to achieve the bests results

Depending on the edge band material and the desired finish, we can apply different surface treatments that optimize the lacquering process and ensure a uniform result.

Treatments:

  • Primer (undercoat). It consists of a layer applied to the PVC or melamine edge band to ensure maximum lacquer adhesion.

  • Base coat + sanding The base coat is a layer applied to porous materials, such as wood veneer or melamine paper, to fill imperfections and reduce porosity. We sand it to leave a smooth surface and facilitate a completely uniform lacquered finish.

 

Which lacquering edge band should you choose?

Below you will find a summary of materials, thicknesses, finishes, and recommended uses to help you select the most suitable option based on the type of furniture and the final result you want to achieve:

pvc

It is used in high-quality lacquered furniture. The edge band’s thickness prevents the chipboard inside the panel from showing through.

A. Untreated

  • Stable surface ready for lacquering.
  • Cost-effective.

B. With Primer (undercoat)

  • Improves lacquer adhesion for a smoother and more uniform finish.
  • Stock references:
    • 3524.08 Blanco 202 (Standard)
    • 3530.08 Blanco ABN*

*The ABN primer treatment can be applied to any edge band reference, upon request.

melamine

Standard lacquered furniture and decorative projects. Thinner edge bands are used on MDF panels since, unlike chipboard, their interior does not show through the edge. The 0.5 mm option is used on chipboard panels as it covers imperfections.

A. Untreated.

  • Ready for lacquering. Cost-effective.
  • Stock reference: 501L

B. With Primer.

  • Improves lacquer adhesion.
  • Stock reference: 306305

C. With Sealing Coat + Sanding.

  • Seals the pores for a uniform finish with lower lacquer consumption.
  • Stock reference: 3063F05

kraft

Suitable for backs and non-visible areas of the furniture.

A. Untreated.

  • Highly cost-effective.
  • Stock references:
    • 3060 Light Brown
    • 3061 Dark Brown

veneer

Used in mid- to high-end lacquered furniture.

A. With backing, untreated.

  • Natural surface.

B. Sanded.

  • Natural, smoothened appearance. Ideal for open pore finishes.

C. Base Coat + Sanding.

  • Smoother surface. The customer can choose the pore-sealing level depending on the thickness of the base coat layer.
